A Vision for the Future at St Peters |

Earlier last year, Runnymede Borough Council approved long term plans for the redevelopment of parts of the St Peter’s hospital campus over the next 20 years. These plans were submitted to the planning authority on behalf of this Trust and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, who we share the overall site with.
Known as the ‘Masterplan’ this sets out a vision for the whole health campus which will significantly improve the layout of the site and enable new purpose-built healthcare facilities to replace some of the existing dated buildings, for both acute hospital and mental health services. Future plans also exist to create an attractive parkland setting for the campus and to create a centralised visitor car park and improved pedestrian connections.

Approval of the masterplan has allowed us to start submitting further detailed plans for smaller, individual developments that fit within this larger picture so we can start improving our environment for patients now.
Improving car parking at St Peter’s
The first of these has been an application to build two new parking decks at St Peter’s, one outside Abbey Wing and one behind the Duchess of Kent Wing. This will create additional public parking and, at the same time, we will be restricting our main car park for the sole use of patients and visitors. We are also re-siting the bus stop, bringing it closer to the main entrance of the hospital and landscaping a new seating area.
These improvement works will start in February 2011 and we expect there will be some disruption while this takes place. Please bear with us during this time – we will be doing our utmost to keep disruption to a minimum at all times.
