This policy forms part of Ashford & St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s (ASPH) commitment to create a positive culture of respect for all individuals including staff, patients, their families and carers as well as community partners. The Trust’s values (the ‘4Ps’) and Staff Pledge are integral to all aspects of day-to-day life in the organisation and underpin the application of all our employment policies and procedures. This policy and procedure sets out the framework and principles of Appraisal for all staff other than medical staff within Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (and will be referred to as the Trust from here on). The purpose of the policy is to ensure that through an effective appraisal mechanism to ensure staff have the skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide the highest standards of safe direct and indirect care to patients; and promote effective working relationships with co-workers. To achieve this policy statement, the Trust has developed an appraisal framework which will help embed the Trust vision, strategic objectives and values in the organisation. This document describes the Trust's approach to Appraisal and provides guidance on the procedure to be adopted. |
