So where are we in our journey to becoming a Foundation Trust?
We have now had an important Board to Board meeting with the South East Coast Strategic Health Authority. This was our opportunity to formally present our business plans for the next five years, and they need to be confident that our plans are sensible, affordable and in the best interests of our patients. We have a further meeting with them at the end of February after which we hope they will be recommending our application to the Secretary of State for Health. This will be followed by a thorough assessment process by Monitor, the independent regulator of Foundation Trusts before we can be finally licensed as a Foundation Trust.
We hope you enjoy this first edition of Members’ Matters. We very much want the content of this magazine to be driven by you, so please take a moment to let us know what you think - see page 8 for details.
