The governance of a Foundation Trust is usually in three parts:
Board of Directors
This will be our existing Board of Directors which includes our Chairman, our Executive Directors and our Non-Executive Directors.
The Council of Governors
This is a new body and may comprise the general public and staff and are elected by the community they serve. The Governors role is to give their views to the Trust Board of Directors on decisions made about the strategic direction of the organisation, act as conduit and spokesperson for the local communities they serve and to appoint the Chairman and the non-Executive Directors of the FT.
Membership
Anyone who lives in the local area of the Trust can become a member. We intend to make life easy for all staff and automatically opt you in to become a staff member, although you will be able to opt out if you wish. As well as receiving discounts in various shops and stores, you will also play a vital role in electing the Governors who will serve the Trust. You can also nominate yourself to become a Governor too.
