Care of patients requiring greater supervision |
|
Written by Head Of Nursing

There are a number of circumstances where patients may require greater supervision because:
- the type of intervention required following a treatment or procedure the patient is undergoing is intensive
- the patient is acutely physically ill and/or requires frequent observations
- the patient is acutely mentally ill or at risk of self harm.
- the patient is likely to wander and/or abscond and is at risk to him/herself
- the patient is confused/agitated/aggressive/violent towards others
- the patient is a known faller or assessed as at risk of falling
This list is not exhaustive and each case must be considered on an individual basis
