The Medical Staffing Team
This team supports 450 doctors within the Trust, from newly qualified to Consultants. They offer advice and encouragement on all employment issues and are responsible for the recruitment of our Trust appointed Doctors, interviews and the pre-employment checks. Medical Staffing actively ensure that they have the correct amount of Doctors for effective service provision.
Education, Training and Development
The Training team run a number of courses across the Trust which can be found on the Trust intranet. They can also facilitate courses for individual teams, such as Performance Development Review (appraisal) and Teamworking and are responsible for organising NVQs for staff to undertake.
There are many NVQs available for support staff and they currently have a wide range of staff undertaking the awards. If you would like further details please contact the NVQ programme Lead, Paul Lea, on extn 3185, who can provide you with guidance on these awards.
We’d also like to congratulate the Medical Education Team and the Undergraduate Education Team who have both received excellent reviews from the Deanery on the quality of the programmes they provide for the foundation doctors and medical students.
Recruitment
The recruitment team have had a very busy 12 months with 616 starters and 555 leavers in total. ”Hot Spot” areas meet weekly with their respective recruitment officers to ensure there are no bottlenecks and staff are responding promptly to offers of employment. On average there are 39 ”Live” recruitment advertisements in any one week. As well as recruitment, the team also have other responsibilities including the administration of maternity leave, long service award requests and certificates of employment. In the last 12 months new processes have been introduced relating to work permits, smart card management and criminal records bureau checks.
Pensions
The Pensions department currently provide services to six NHS Trusts & PCTs.
The team is led by Pauline Sandu who we were delighted to welcome back to the Trust at the beginning of this year. In addition to the day to day workload of dealing with retirement applications, pension forecasts and membership enquires (to name but a few!) there is also a great deal of work being carried out by the team in preparation for the ’Choices Exercise’ which is expected to commence in early 2010 for the South East Coast area. The ’Choices Exercise’ will give scheme members the option of remaining in the old scheme or transferring to the new scheme. |
