The pain management service at Ashford and St Peter’s hospital Trust provides a service which is:

 

Patient focused

·          Adequate consultation time

 

·          Access to diagnostic and imaging services

 

·          Links to other health care professionals where required

 

·          Education about condition

 

·          Choices regarding management

 

·          Written patient information on procedures, conditions and other therapies

 

·          Links to other sources of information

 

 

Evidence-based

·          Multi modal therapy

 

·          Pharmacological therapies and rationalisation of medications

 

·          Interventionist treatments including spinal injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency denervation, muscle trigger point injections and Botox

 

Multidisciplinary team input

 

Assessment and treatment by other members of the multidisciplinary team:

 

·          Medical consultants

·          Nurses

·          Clinical psychologist

·          Physiotherapist

·          Occupational therapist
