In this section, you can find out more about our departments:

Microbiology Microbiology is the study of micro-organisms including bacteria, fungi and viruses.
Cytology Cytology is the study of individual cells (excluding blood cells).
Histopathology Histopathology is the study of diseases of tissues and organs.
Haematology and Blood Transfusion Haematology is the study of the blood.
Biochemistry Clinical Biochemistry is the study of the chemical composition of blood and other body fluids.

MRSA Screening In line with Department of Health guidelines on MRSA screening, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust are compliant with the requirement, which from December 31st 2010 also includes screening all adult patients (other than maternity) admitted to the Trust as an emergency.
Infection Control The Trust Board is committedd to the Health Social Care Act 2008, Code of Practice for health and adult social care on the prevention and control of infections, and related guidance. This outlines the accountability of the Board in reducing healthcare associated infections and the importance of hospital cleanliness.
Anticoagulation Clinic An Anticoagulant stops your blood from clotting within the blood vessels.
