Hey, Hey are you ready to play? Children on Oak and Ash Ward and in the children’s outpatients at St. Peter’s Hospital were ready to play and were enthralled by a visit from CBBC’s Tweenies on Thursday 24th May. Family favourites Jake and Fizz from the popular BBC children’s series the Tweenies visited the children’s ward and outpatients at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey to tell everyone about their first ever live theatre adventure – ‘The Enchanted Toyshop’ - which is at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking this June. Jake and Fizz entertained the youngsters with singalongs, waves and cuddles whilst parents snapped away for the family album. Whilst at the hospital Jake and Fizz were shown by Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse Anne Lyddall how children inject lifesaving insulin. Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals are supporting the Stephanie Marks Diabetes Appeal to build a diabetes resource centre on the St. Peter’s site and a network of clinics around the local area. There is a very active paediatric diabetes service in the area with an associated support group dedicated to the care and education of children with diabetes.
