Birth of Tiny Miracles!
Written by Communications Team

Tiny Miracles is a new support group that has been set up by Cassandra Donovan and Tilly Foley.

Both had pre-term babies that were in St. Peter’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit  (NICU)in the spring of 2006, and they have become firm friends.  Cassandra, of Sunningdale had Thomas 23 weeks prematurely in late February and Tilly, of EnglefieldGreen, had twins Tom and Jack 14 weeks early in March. They realised they were an immense source of support for each other and wanted to offer this support to other parents who found themselves in a similar situation.

Tiny Miracles meets every  other Tuesday morning from 10am to 12pm, in the Parent Education room in the Abbey Wing, St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. It is an opportunity for parents of babies currently in the NICU or discharged home from the neonatal unit to meet for a chat over coffee. There are mats and toys, and the chance to see ex-NICU babies show off their latest tricks and achievements.

The mums are keen to make contact with other mothers of premature babies who may have been born before Tiny Miracles was “born” this year, as these mums may also welcome the support such a group can offer.

Said Tilly: “In the future the group hopes to offer talks on various issues such as pre-term development, and weaning premature babies, as well as more hands on activities such as baby massage and baby footprints.”
