One of the Surrey’s biggest hospital Trusts has embarked on a major recruitment initiative to recruit Scotland’s nurses.     Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust, is a large two site district general hospital Trust situated to the south west of London and has an urgent need to recruit General RGN’s for Medicine.

The attractions of working for the Trust are many.   The Trust offers enhanced “High Cost Area Payment and Fringe Rate” pay scales and highlight the close proximity of London and the fast and frequent transport links to central London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and the south coast.

Despite the hospitals proximity to the bright lights of London the major St. Peter’s Hospital site is situated amongst green park land giving it the best of both worlds.   Staff are able to enjoy living and working in a pretty and tranquil location but close to the amenities of one of the worlds great cities.

A feature is also being made of the availability of a variety of affordable quality accommodation, studio apartments, two bedroom flats and unfurnished three bedroom flats.   Rented property can be purchased, if wanted, at a later date via the “HomeBuy” programme.

A measure of the Trust’s determination to make the recruitment drive work the Trust is not simply advertising vacancies in the press and inviting written applications.   In the past the Trust has recruited from the Philippines, Spain, and Germany but now the Trust is breaking new ground by sending their recruitment specialists to four separate locations in Scotland during February and have placed advertisements’ in the Scottish nursing press announcing “ We are Coming To Meet You”

Recruitment specialists from the English hospitals will be in residence in:

·          25th February - Aberdeen at the Millennium Hotel

·          26th February - Dundee at the Best Western Hotel

·          27th February - Glasgow at the Millennium Hotel

·          28th February - Edinburgh at the Ramada Hotel

The recruiters are asking for interested applicants to contact  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to make an arrangement to meet with them in person.

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust was created in 1998 and employs 3,300 staff.    The Trust manages two sites, Ashford nr Staines and St. Peter’s in Chertsey, Surrey.  It has specialist limb reconstruction, cardiology and neonatal intensive care facilities.   Over 4,000 babies are born every year at St. Peter’s and over 110,000 visit the Trust’s emergency services. For further information about the Trust please visit www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk.

Said Head of Communications, Andy Hollebon, “Nurses move around the NHS all the time and a number from Scotland have expressed interest in recent months about working in the South East.   Rather than wait for them to come to us we’re taking a trip north to save them the journey.   As a Trust we have always had a proactive recruitment campaign and this is just another example.   We have also been holding some open days locally.  The exchange of staff between healthcare organisations is good – it enables staff to gain experience and develop new skills.  Indeed 30 new staff are taking part in the Trust’s monthly induction programme this week.”
