Non-Executive Directors Sought For Local Hospitals

Up to three Non-Executive Directors are being sought for Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust.   The posts are being advertised by the independent Appointments Commission which handles the recruitment to all Non-Executive Director posts in NHS Trusts.    The Non-Executive Director vacancies will be coming up in 2008 due to the retirement and relocation of three long serving directors at Ashford and St. Peter’s, a Trust which has significantly improved services in recent years.

Local people (particularly from the boroughs of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, and Woking) who have gained senior level expertise in the private, public or voluntary sectors, are offered an exceptional opportunity to put their talents to use by making a positive difference to the lives of people in their community.   Essential expertise needed by candidates includes significant or senior level experience in one or more of the following areas:

·          For one post candidates must have finance experience gained at a senior level in a large and complex organisation, ideally with a finance qualification.

·          For the other posts candidates must have either Governance experience; bringing strategic analysis, decision taking, risk and performance management skills ideally with a customer or patient focus or commercial experience at senior level; bringing both governance and private sector expertise with a customer focus.

Candidates will also need to demonstrate a range of competencies required to contribute effectively at board level including strategic thinking, team working and excellent communication skills.   The time commitment is typically two and a half days each month and remuneration is £5,875 pa.   Trust Chairman, Clive Thompson CBE said: “This is a chance to influence and shape the NHS for the 21st century.    Ashford and St. Peter’s has had many recent successes including reducing healthcare acquired infections such as MRSA and C. difficile, reducing waiting times and moving into financial surplus.   Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals have bright future and we need the best talent to help the organisation deliver excellent services to patient now and in the future.”

The closing date for applications is 16th May 2008 and interviews will be held on 16th and 17th June 2008. For more information please visit the website www.appointments.org.uk/vacancies or call 0870 240 3802 quoting the reference SE8392 for an information pack.   Further information about the Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals can be found atwww.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk.

The Trust and Appointments Commission would particularly welcome applications from women, people from the black and minority ethnic communities and people with a disability to promote full community involvement in the activities of the hospitals.
