Timberland make hospital quad garden and children’s outdoor play equipment ready for summer

The sunshine may be eluding us at the moment but local company Timberland have been helping Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust get one of its Quad Gardens and children’s outdoor play area equipment ready for some summer sunshine.   Despite torrential rain on Tuesday 3rd June nine volunteer employees from the Timberland Head Office inWexham, Slough toiled in the Quad Garden near Pharmacy and in the Children’s area off Oak Ward.   They will be returning to the task on Tuesday 10th June 2008.

In the Children’s area off Oak Ward the Timberland staff are washing, repairing and painting outdoor play equipment.   In the Quad Garden they are making it tidy and adding new plants.  Time permitting they also hope to spruce up the courtyard garden in the Abbey Wing.   Timberland spent time several years ago establishing the two courtyard gardens and on that visit also painted the whole length of the ramp.

Timberland team leader Bob McClaskey, says: “We are keen to continue supporting our local hospitals in this way.    Hospitals play an important role in our local community and Timberland is keen to repay the dedication and support that NHS staff provide to our families and friends.”

Karen Marsden, Voluntary Services Manager said: “We’re very grateful to Timberland for sparing the time to do this work for us.  These one off projects are very important to us and enable us to spend more money on direct patient care as well as giving patients, visitors and staff a nice environment.   Over 400 people volunteer in our hospitals every year and were very grateful to them and the companies that provide time off for their employees.”
