Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust was all set to have a little celebratory get-together between a youngster born on 5 July 1998 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey, and a baby born on 5 July 2008 when the event took on an added “extra” as it was discovered that the new Mum has the initials NHS! Pictured here are 10-year-old 50th Anniversary baby Daniel Kensett (right) and Nicola Harcourt-Smith holding her baby son, born at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, at 3.55am on Saturday 5 July 2008 – the 60th Anniversary of the NHS. The baby, yet to be named, weighed 7lbs 15oz. (3.600Kg) He is the second child of Nicola, 37, and her husband Simon. The baby was born in the hospital’s Birthing Pool and Simon cut the umbilical chord. Said Nicola: “My midwife, Jonathan Hernandez, was so good – really excellent. He was just what you want, caring and reassuring. I can’t fault the service I’ve had from the midwifery team at St. Peter’s, they all deserve praise.” Nicola and Simon’s daughter, Leanne, was also born at St. Peter’s Hospital, five years ago. She is a pupil at Burhill Infant School. The family live in Hersham and Simon runs the carpentry and joinery firm Phoenix Harcourt-Smith of Walton. Daniel is the son of David and Julie Kensett, of Ashford. He was one of eight babies born at St. Peter’s Hospital on 5 July 1998. His older sister, Rebecca, 12, was also born there. He plays football for Staines Town and will be in the Under 11s team in September. In the picture he is wearing his birthday gift of a new Holland football shirt. Daniel presented the baby with a cuddly Bear and Midwife Alice Siabalede presented him with a gift voucher on behalf of the Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust. Before setting off for a birthday treat at Chessington World of Adventure with his family and friends Daniel’s mum and Nicola discussed the possibility that their families may well get together again in 15 years time, when the NHS celebrates its 75th Anniversary! |
