New Non-Executive Director Appointed at Ashford and St Peter’s
Written by Communications Team

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust has recently appointed Sue Ells as a new Non-Executive Director.   Sue joined the Board on 11th February and her term of office will be for 4 years.

Trust Chairman Aileen McLeish commented: “I am delighted with Sue’s appointment, which brings us up to our full complement of non-executive directors. Sue brings with her a wealth of experience working in both the public and private sectors, with particular skills in transformational change. An extremely strong candidate, Sue impressed us all with her passion for the public sector and her interest in raising standards of patient care and improving value for money, and I have asked her to focus on patient experience within the Trust. As we work towards our Foundation Trust application, the wide range of experience of all our board members will make a significant contribution to our development as an organisation.”

Speaking of her appointment, Sue said: “I am delighted to have joined Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust. I am a customer of both the NHS system generally, and of the Trust, and so am able to offer both a professional and personal perspective. I am very much looking forward to contributing to the successful transformation of the organisation to Foundation Trust status.”

This appointment has been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice, and remuneration for the post is £6,005 per annum. All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Sue Ells has no political activity to declare and holds no other ministerial appointments.
