Support for Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust’s application to become a Foundation Trust has been gathering momentum as the 12 week Public Consultation process draws to a close. (August 23) Said Giselle Rothwell, Head of Communications and Media at the Trust: “The response from the public is growing fast, with more than 2,100 membership application forms already returned, which is good news and very pleasing for all our staff. “Comments received show that the public are broadly in favour of the plans described in the consultation document. Having a wide-ranging membership base will fully reflect the voice of the local community when making important decisions about future healthcare provision. ” Past experience at other Trusts aiming for Foundation Trust status shows that a late build-up of postal responses is normal and to be expected. The date of August 23 is not a cut-off date and the public can still return their completed forms. The Trust expect to hit the required 3,000 membership mark by the autumn. Anyone aged over 14 years old living in the Trust’s catchment area can become a Foundation Trust member.
