New Year Day Babies 2009
Written by Communications Lead

The first baby to be born at St. Peter’s Hospital in the New Year arrived at exactly one minute after midnight on 1st January, 2009! A baby girl was born to Shradha Shilpa of Sunbury, weighing 4lbs 7oz. (2.040kg.)

Following the tradition of the maternity unit for the first baby of the New Year when the Mum and daughter went to the Joan Booker Ward from the Labour Ward the baby girl was placed in a special crib covered in white broidery anglaise lace, and she received a soft toy gift.

There were 11 babies born altogether on 1st January – seven girls and four boys – and the last was born at 21.08hrs, a daughter for Kirsty Wheatley of Stanwell weighing 8lbs. 13 oz. (3.990kg).

Last year nine babies, five boys and four girls, were born on New Year’s Day.
