Long term plans have been submitted to the planning authority to redevelop parts of the St Peter’s Hospital campus in Chertsey over the next 20 years to improve the infrastructure for local healthcare services.

The proposed vision will enable new purpose-built healthcare facilities that are appropriate to a modern healthcare campus to replace some of the existing dated buildings for acute hospital and mental health services. Future plans also exist to create an attractive parkland setting for the campus and to improve long term car parking and traffic flow by creating a centralised visitor car park and improved pedestrian connections.

Further details are available via the links below:
Director of Strategy at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust, Paul Bentley said: “These plans represent a very long-term view for this site. It’s important that we have a long-term vision within which we will be able to begin smaller developments that will, over time, contribute towards this longer term plan. In the short-term for example we hope to further develop our cardiovascular services at St. Peter’s Hospital and extend and improve parking facilities for patients by demolishing some of our older buildings known as ‘The Ramp’, subject to planning consent. Understanding our long-term vision will help us to make the right developments now, which will be in line with our overall plans for the future.”

These plans form part of a planning application submitted to Runnymede Borough Council by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, who jointly own the campus. The vision will be realised gradually over the next 20 years and full planning applications will be submitted as individual proposals are progressed which we anticipate will be in the near future.

A public exhibition has been planned for the last week in January to enable interested patients, local residents and staff to learn more about the plans and to give their feedback.
