Rocking horses donated to help sick children at St Peter’s
Written by Communications Team

When Ken and Eve Godfrey decided they wanted to say ‘thank you’ for the excellent care they have received at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, they did so in an unusual way by donating two handmade rocking horses.

Over the years, Ken and Eve have both been patients at the hospital and received different types of treatment and care, including orthopaedic surgery, cardiac care and rehabilitation and cancer treatment. Said Ken Godfrey: “We are both very grateful for the excellent care we have received and wanted to give something special back. We have used the paediatric physiotherapy room for our cardiac rehabilitation classes and it made me think about donating the rocking horses. I make them in my spare time and it seemed like a good gift to help keep the children entertained.”

The two new rocking horses have been placed in the children’s physiotherapy department and the children’s play room on Ash and Oak Wards and the couple visited the hospital at the end of May to hand them over to Senior Paediatric Physiotherapists Sarah Chambers and Linda Berwick. Sarah said: “We would like to thank Ken and Eve for their kind words about the care they have received and their generous donation. We know the rocking horses were expensive to make and they will no doubt provide hours of entertainment for sick children at St Peter’s.”
