Not only is Joseph Italiano, a porter at St Peter’s Hospital, celebrating his 40th birthday on Christmas day, he was also one of the first Christmas babies born at the hospital’s new maternity unit in Abbey Wing in 1970.  At the time, both of Joe’s parents also worked at the Trust, his dad as a domestic and his mum in the linen room. Joe was one of several babies featured in the Surrey Herald newspaper that Christmas as the new maternity unit also celebrated its first Christmas. Joe has worked at the Trust for 21 years and has stayed close by, now living in Walton. |
