We have a range of organisational and employment policies and procedures at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust.
In this section, we have links to a few of them that relate directly to equality and diversity. However, if you wish to view the full range, they are in our Freedom of Information section, and you can access this via the link below:

As a Trust, nothing is more important to us than providing the services that our patients need and the only way to do so is through our staff. We respect the needs of all our patients and treat them as unique; patients and staff are all different and this scheme identifies how we can treat them with dignity and respect against a backdrop of fairness.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that within the Trust all staff are treated with dignity and respect and there is a working environment free from harassment and bullying. Harassment and bullying will not be tolerated at any level. This policy sets out means by which individuals can seek redress if they are the subject of harassment, bullying or victimisation in the workplace.

In October 1999 the NHS Executive launched a campaign entitled NHS Zero Tolerance Zone which reinforces Health and Safety legislation.
The definition of work related violence is
“any incident where staff are abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances related to their work, involving an explicit or implicit challenge to their safety, well being or health”.
The policy applies to violence against Trust staff.

The grievance procedure is used by the Trust to deal formally with employees' grievances and aims to settle grievances fairly and as quickly as possible.

Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust has introduced this procedure to enable staff to raise your concerns about suspected malpractice at an early stage and in the right way. We would rather that staff raised the matter when it is just a concern rather than wait for proof.
