This policy clearly identifies the legal obligations set out in waste, health and safety and transport legislation.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the Trust complies with relevant legislation and to increase awareness among both management and employees who may be involved in the handling of Hazardous Waste and Household Waste to ensure that procedures are uniform. A priority objective is that Hazardous Waste should be identified at source and dealt with accordingly until its ultimate disposal. The Trust also has responsibilities to it’s staff and patients and the wider community to ensure the correct segregation of waste according to type and disposal method ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
