What is Membership?

NHS Foundation Trusts are membership organisations and are run so that local people, and staff members of the organisation, can have a greater influence in shaping its future.

There are some key benefits of becoming a member. You will be able to:
  1. Take part in discussions and consultations about changes and developments at our Trust
  2. Vote to appoint Governors (if over the age of 16 years of age plus)
  3. Stand as a Governor yourself (if over the age of 16 years of age plus)
  4. Receive regular up-to-date information about developments at our Trust
  5. Join special interest groups at our Trust
  6. Join the NHS benefit and discount scheme.

It is important that our members reflect the diversity within our local communities and we want to make sure that everyone who would like to be involved can be.

There are two types of members: public and staff.

You can become a public member if you are over 14 years of age and live in the local area served by the Trust. The local area is divided into the nine constituencies of Elmbridge, Guildford (Lovelace and Send), Hounslow London Borough, Richmond-upon-Thames, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Windsor and Maidenhead (Sunningdale, Wraysbury and Horton) and Woking. All staff are eligible to become Foundation Trust members.
