Impact assessments are carried out on a variety of Trust documentation; from our organisational policies to staff training materials.

They help the Trust understand and appreciate the needs of users of the materials as to whether the content may be understood as intended or in terms of the accessibility of the format.

Our impact assessments ask the author of the document whether the material may adversly affect or be more favourable towards an individual's:
  • Race or ethnic origin
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Culture
  • Religion or belief
  • Sexual orientation
  • Age
We can then identify the user who may be disadvantaged and take appropriate action. This may involve reducing the impact or putting in measures to avoid it. We always look at suitable alternatives that fit the individual whilst maintaining the highest level of care for patients.
