Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Trust

A man who had to be removed by police from the Accident Centre at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, looks set to appear before Woking Magistrates on Thursday. (07-02-08).  Security in St. Peter’s Hospital’s A & E includes the use of CCTV cameras which have recently been enhanced across the Trust.

The 3am fracas on 24 January, 2008, led to a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour.

St. Peter’s Hospital first installed 48 CCTV cameras in the hospital and on the campus in the summer of 2002.  BBC TV’s “Crimewatch” policewoman Jacqui Hames opened the CCTV control room at St. Peter’s on 4 July in a ceremony attended by the Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr. Peggy Broadhurst.  The £350,000 project was substantially funded with £280,000 by the Home Office, as part of the Safer Runnymede initiative.    The cameras have recently been up-graded, under the same initiative.
