Careful planning has gone into the organisation behind a fundraising walk that aims to help stroke patients. Those taking part will not only be wearing wellies but they will be giving the event some “welly” when they take part in a sponsored walk on Wednesday. (May 21)
The walk will be round Bedfont Lakes meeting at Clockhouse Lane car park at 5.30pm. Ashford Hospital staff and past and patients the Chaucer Ward, Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, together with Ashford Stroke Klub (ASK) will be supported by Woking Young Farmers.
Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Michelle Green based at Ashford Hospital said: “This is one of many fundraising events to raise £1,500. We hope to buy Biometric Equipment which assists stroke patients in their rehabilitation using specialist computer games and encourages patient participation making it fun.
“Many of the patients are wheelchair users and all attending will wear wellies so there may be some good photo opportunities. We will be collecting as we walk around, though most of the money collected will be in sponsorship. Anyone wishing to walk will give a £3 minimum donation.”
